FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES

The Nunavut Food Security Coalition provides contribution funding to community governments and non-profit organizations to help achieve outcomes of the Makimaniq Plan.  

Core Funding - Community Food Organization

The purpose of the Nunavut Food Security Community Initiatives Core Funding Program is to support the core operations of community food organizations (i.e salaries, administration, space rental), so they are well placed to provide food security services and programming.

Eligible projects will: 

  • Reduce barriers to food access and help reduce poverty. 
  • Contribute to the core operations of a food organization so it is better placed to provide access to services and programming most days of the year and to build  food programming beyond emergency food relief.


Funding up to a maximum of $250,000 per year per organization is available under this Fund.   
 

Food Security Projects

The purpose of the Nunavut Food Security Community Initiatives Program is to support projects targeted to those facing food insecurity.

Eligible projects will:

  • Develop supports targeted to those facing food insecurity.
  • Aim to increase the ability and self reliance of Nunavummiut to improve their own food security through life and food skills development; 
  • Encourage parents and children to learn and build food and life skills together;
  • Reduce barriers to food access and help reduce poverty. 


Grants up to a maximum of $25,000 are available for projects solely focused on the purchase of food items for hampers or vouchers.
